We also offer artificial insemination to our patients. This is the act of collecting semen from a male dog and inserted into the female recipient when she is in heat. If the semen is not able to be used (chilled) within 24 hours, it is frozen in liquid nitrogen (viable for months to years). Semen can be used immediately when the female dog is available and ready to be inseminated, but some breeders may choose to ship the semen chilled to distant locations or freeze it in liquid nitrogen for future use
