Wellness and Vaccines

APPOINTMENTCONTACT US
Wellness and vaccination programs are designed to prevent disease and prolong the lives of your companion animals. Disease prevention is less costly than dealing with the treatment of a disease once your pet has developed it. Every pet is an individual and deserves a health care plan that suits their lifestyle. Early diagnosis of a disease can add years to your pets life.
Puppy Wellness
Our Puppy Wellness Program offers your new puppy comprehensive health care during the critical time from birth to 1 year of age.

Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc. In addition, your puppy will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of puppies – roundworms. Roundworms can cause gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and/or diarrhea. There are other parasites that can cause similar symptoms and can even cause your puppy to become anemic (low red blood cells). Performing a fecal test will allow us to treat your puppy accordingly. Although some worms are visible to the naked eye, most worm burdens are diagnosed by examining the stool of your puppy microscopically.

Kitten Wellness
Our Kitten Wellness Program offers your new kitten comprehensive health care during the critical time from birth to 1 year of age.

Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, panleukopenia (distemper), leukemia, etc. In addition, your kitten will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of kittens – roundworms. Roundworms can cause your kitten to vomit and/or experience diarrhea; however, it is possible for your kitten to have roundworms and not show any signs of harbouring the worms. A microscopic fecal examination could detect the presence of these worms. The examination will also look for other types of worms that can affect your kitten.

Adult Pet Wellness
Bringing your pet in for an annual diagnostic and wellness checkup can help reassure you that your dog or cat is healthy or help us detect hidden diseases or conditions early. Early detection can improve the prognosis of many diseases, keep medical costs down, and help your pet live longer. Many dogs and cats are good at hiding signs that something is wrong, so subtle changes in their health or behaviour might be easy to overlook. And, depending on the disease, some pets don’t show any symptoms.

Dogs and cats age quicker than humans, so it is even more crucial for our companion animals to receive regular exams. In addition, the risks of arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hormonal disorders, and kidney and liver problems all increase with age.

During your pet’s wellness exam, we will perform a physical assessment, checking your dog or cat from nose to tail. We will also make sure your pet receives appropriate vaccinations and preventatives. We will perform a diagnostic workup, which may include blood, fecal, and urine tests to check for parasites and underlying diseases. We may also recommend that your pet receive dental care.

When your pet is nearing his or her senior years, we will recommend a baseline exam and diagnostic workup so we’ll know what’s normal for your pet. This will enable us to keep track of any changes.

Please let us know if you’ve noticed any physical or behavioural changes in your pet, as well as any other concerns you might have.

Senior Pet Wellness
Diagnosing diseases and certain conditions early is important throughout a pet’s life, but it becomes even more critical when they enter their senior years. The risks of arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hormone disorders, kidney and liver problems all increase with age. In addition, dogs and cats may not show any signs of serious diseases until they are advanced.
